Hi everyone, my names Damian and I currently work in the industry in southend on sea. I have worked for an electrical company for the past 3 years and during this tim have gained levels 2&3 of the c&g 2330 qualification, the 17th edition wiring regs qualification (I think its the 2382?) and the 2391 test and inspect qualification.
After all of this I am still unsure whether or not i am fully qualified? if not, what else do I need to gain & what am I qualified to undertake at the moment.
Also which is the best governing body to join? and how do I go about it?
All of the information I have tried to gather seems to send me in circles, so any advise or help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

I wouldn`t - depending on the system being installed, of course.

i.e. We`ve been installing in the communal area of flats. DNO supply one overhead cable, split into 4 HEDs; each feeding a meter in the communal hallway. The meters feed KMFs, then out to the flats in tails.
One flat has the tails "henley`d", and a split to a communal supply. Main switch, and RCBo`s for communal socket, lighting / em lighting, and smokies.
The smokes have a local "hush / test / locate" switch, using the same "noburn" 4 core as the detector cct. the two lengths are taken into the DB, and split to provide power at that point. No spur or other form of isolation provided / necessary. System is grade "C", cat L3.
The EM is in with the communal lighting, via a 3+E, using NM3s.
To look at Sidewinder`s post; the scenarios have the back-ar5ewards cabling - fire rated for CBUs, and "standard" for self-contained.

""""" nothing about being portable""""

an item of fixed equipment or a fixed appliance is equipment that is fastened to a support or otherwise secured in a specified location,
eg central heating boiler, hand dryer, fixed air con unit, bathroom heater immersion heater or luminaire.

picture shows hand dryer connected to a switch..

i was told .... if safe to do so (and your competent) remove item from switch or fused spur and test item.
If none of the above can be met .... perform a formal visual inspection.

I could wrong !!! but i paid over £300 for that info ;)
