    NAPIT the accusators

'Premier Training' are associated with NAPIT and have been cold calling me regarding 18th edition courses.  It's probably one of their lot.  BTW my number is registered with TPS, so they'll be getting an official complaint in due course.

Help me find a dual rate electricity meter please

    I missed that bit 😉

Help me find a dual rate electricity meter please

Why not use two meters and use your hot water signal to switch one or more contactors to switch from one meter to the other?

    Fan isolation

I agree with ProDave - I've fitted hundreds of bathroom fans (and loft lights) working by new fangled battery LED candle replacements.  It's a non-problem in a domestic environment - it may be slightly inconvenient for the householder, but it's a welcome relief turning off carp on TV like Jeremy...

    Envirovent vs nuaire vs dehumidifier

I have wired several hundred Nuaire units for an independent specialist company (trained by the manufacturers) that does all the mechanical bits of the installation.  The units need to be installed as part of a complete ventilation solution in conjunction with appropriate...

    In loft contactor for shower

    Yes, isn't that normal?

    In loft contactor for shower

It's no different than if you had to change the isolator.  I normally pull the neutral from the busbar for the IR test anyway.   And if I've not been offered a cuppa within 20 minutes of arriving "the main switch needs to be operated for safe isolation".  No tea for me, no daytime tv for them :-)

    Fan switch with neon?

Some of the Schneider Lisse range can have LED indicator modules fitted - it shows through a reduced thickness section.  No idea if they fit fan the isolators though.

    pme with earth rod

I may have misunderstood your post, but it seems to me that this is by far the most common misconception on this and any other electrical forum - RCDs do not limit the magnitude of the current at all. If you have an EFLI of 200 ohms it will (only) be 240/200 = 1.2 amps.   But that is 40x the...

    Ammendment 3 Consumer Units

Smart meter roll out. where the tails are manipulated to get them in the meter, but no check made in the CU?  Electrical Safety First, or whatever they call themselves these days, commissioned some testing which demonstrated that even correctly torqued tails loosen when moved about a bit. Or it...

Replacing Low Voltage Spotlights... Who's Right?

Some SELV fittings are marked as Class III with a warning "Must not be connected to the mains".  You can't tell without physically looking at them. And certainly not by phone...

Drilled Through Incoming Electrical Cable Protector

My local post office has it's certificates of employer's and public liability insurance screwed to the wall immediately above the grid switch for the lights. At least the details will be handy when someone gets a belt off the aluminium picture frames... When I EICR'd my own house after moving...

    Bonding....

To test an existing in-service installation, I turn off the main switch (safe isolation etc), then disconnect the main earthing conductor and test between that and the suspected extraneous-conductive-part.   This removes fortuitous paths, such as a cpc connection to the immersion heater in a...

    Some Help With Preperation

How can anyway know how to bend and thread steel tube but not be able to work out what length of screws to use to hold the lids on?
