    Domestic rewire

I have indeed. I told him I wanted the USB fascias and he offered to supply them. I told him I already had them but he didn't offer to fit them. He tested the system after I had fitted them and declared they were safe. He does indeed. 21 days from the date of installation according to the...

I can only repeat what I was told. I don't even know what that means :)

    Domestic rewire

There were no problems with the installation apart from the loose live cable in P4, the single socket supplying the fridge. This was reinstated. The only thing I changed were three switched double sockets for three switched double USB sockets. I isolated the ground floor sockets (as indicated in...

The electrician said he had submitted the results and supplied us with the draft EIC to show that it had been tested. I called NAPIT and they told me the results were not sent to them but to the relevant authorities. He has 21 days from the date of testing to issue the certificate.

So if I replace three switched double sockets with three switched double USB sockets and then the electrician tests the fixed installation, finds nothing wrong and issues a draft certificate, that EIC is void? Edit: So the installer shouldn't have tested / issued certificate until after the...

Got you. We actually live in the house and there is no opportunity to vacate it whilst tradesmen to their thing. The fixed installation had to be made suitable to use until the plasterer could get round to doing his work.

The penny finally dropped on this statement! The hole is too deep for a standard back box. A deeper back box would help to alleviate that particular problem.

    What does "2nd fixed" mean?

    Domestic rewire

One last question. Where the three cables exit from the channel on the right hand side, are they allowed to just "emerge" from the plastered wall?

The electrician actually said he's probably pissed the plasterer off by the way he had left the cabling!

My wife just pointed out that they started upstairs and worked their way down. That's why the four double switched sockets (P18, P19, P23, P24) chased into the brick/block walls are all mounted flush to the wall and are filled in correctly. /sigh
