[QUOTE="sessionsdenseflannels, post: 545730, member: 36928"] I have some SWA electrical cable that was left by the previous homeowner when we bought our house. There's about 15 metres of the cable and it's in decent condition, so I may want to use it or sell it. But I can't tell what the guage or thickness of the cable is. All that is printed on the exterior sheath is "Electric Cable 600/1000 V BS5467", "Basek Demes Kablo 3x4 (2017)", and "CE RoHS 1714806 24/05/2017". I've tried Googling all this and it hasn't turned up any useful information. What I'd like to know, very simply, is whether the SWA cable is 1.5mm, 2.5mm, 4mm, 6mm guage etc.? How do I measure this? I've attached photos of the cable and my very DIY attempts at measuring the cross-section with a steel ruler. Any advice would be appreciated!
