Being named for all duties bar the 'Nominee' regarding MCS it is my job to keep our status and membership going. Obviously we all know that the last thing the sceme providers want to do is kick you off their books as it means they do not get paid. Always a nice feeling though when you fly through the assessment.
So today is the 14/8/2014. Tomorrow my wife goes to the hospital to see if she has breast cancer. The doctors say it's 'possible'. She is going for the full bag of mashings bless her. Physical examinations followed by mammogram, ultra sound and then dependent on what they find, possibly biopsy and / or needle drain; over 4 hours in total. She is shitting her pants and although I am feeling quite optimistic about it, there is always that small amount of doubt and 'what if'.
If the tests are positive, hopefully it is caught really early and very treatable.
The crap bit I couldn't get the day off work to go with her. Her parents are on holiday. my mum is the only person who has been able to get the day off work and therefore she will have to watch the kids with it being school holidays. Hopefully, her aunt will get a bit of last minute time off, will know first thing in the morning so then she won't have to go alone.
Well, good luck to the wife for tomorrow!!!
On the Trade Lighting website we blog regularly. We like to update our readers on industry developments and the latest products. We also enjoy putting the spotlight on design and the beauty of contemporary lighting.
With this is mind we have planned to write articles featuring some work that electricians up and down the country undertake. We are really interested to showcase what you are doing and also share any great tips re design, safety or associated themes.
So if you are involved in cutting edge projects, garden lighting design or any kind of installation that shows off what you can do and inspires others, do let us know.
All you need to so is send us your installation images and jot a couple of bullet points to explain them and we will mention your company in the post with a link back to your site. How does that sound?
For more information or to simply send us your pics please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or send a message via the forum.
So, yesterday me, wife and kids went on our first geocaching expedition. There are a few local caches and while me and the wife want to start doing a bit of walking to get out in nature, the kids need a little more enticement so looking for treasure seemed the idea enticer. So I found the cache details for 'Centurions Surprise' and off went set on the 1.5km walk. We got there in no time really and kids were well excited.
Over 2 hours later.......... still looking. No idea what we we're looking for, no idea if co-ordinates are accurate, etc.
We eventually give in and call a family friend who is an occasional cacher. Turns out this on is quite new and she hadn't visited it yet. She ends up rustling kids into car and coming to meet us. 45 mins later, she too admits defeat as it was getting dusky.
I guess that's a failed first attempt as we didn't find the treasure, but we all enjoyed the walk and fresh air. All in all the afternoon was a success as it got us out the house and no-one got fed up....until next time.
So, 2013 is over and done and 2014 is now upon us.
Is it just me or doesn't it seem 2 minutes ago that everyone was flapping about the Millennium bug? 14 years ago that was. Were does time go?
What will 2014 bring, worry and angst as yet more foreign folk are let into the country, taking yet more of the jobs so more British citizens are out of work. Well that is my main worry, the latest wave of immigrants are said to be nasty. I sincerely hope that they prove the media wrong. I already worry for my childrens' future. What did we do, bringing them into this crap.
Well, let's not lower the tone too much. This year I hope to do my NVQ3 (although I'm going to struggle now with the job reports and photo evidence as we are no longer doing rewires and such, we are now installing PV Solar Systems which doesn't exactly give a great deal of variety to cover some of the required areas.
I hope to build more upon my web development and Android App development works; I think, with an ultimate goal of eventually making it my main stream. Although, unless I come into some big pot of money to get me started, I don't see it happening for a few years yet.
Ok, that's me for now. Remember guys, when your writing that date. IT'S 2014 not '13. I still end up writing 2010, lol. Must have been a good year...
All the Best
Barx x x x
So, the wife tells me that once she has managed to loose the bit of weight that she has been trying to shed for a bit now, that she is going to get one of her friends to take some 'tasteful' photo's of her for me..................................
That's the gym membership signed up for!
As per title, seems there is a naming convention going round at work that dubs me 'Golden Balls'.
Ok, I try to do the best I can on a job with what resources (materials, tools, labour and time) I have; but I certainly would go as far as Golden Balls. Apparently it has been going on a while too and not just between out employees. The site supervisor also knows who Golden Balls is.
Oh my days, I guess there are worse things to be called.

A while back I asked the forum what you look for when it comes to free promotions with testers.
In general, you wanted free calibrations and better standard test leads. I've finally finished making the new kits and adding them to isswww.co.uk
They can be found here
In total there are four different types of kits:
Calibration Voucher Kit
Wander Lead Kit
Test Lead Kit
Wireless Test Kit
All our main top selling multifunction testers have been turned into these kits. Not only that but the top three kits are all the same price, so it's just a case of choosing what you want free with your tester.
For more information on these calibration vouchers please see our Calibration Page
Calibration Voucher Kit:
In this kit you will receive a free voucher card for a calibration. You simply send back the voucher card with any 17th edition tester you want calibrated. We'll do it and send it back free of charge.
Wander Lead Kit:
This was our original kit for multifunction testers. We found these sold really well so I decided to keep these the same.
Test Lead Kit:
Again, as requested, this kit is supplied with the Fluke TL175 rugged test lead set and a carry pouch. It's a great test lead set and should be useful to all.
Wireless Test Kit:
The last of the kits and definitely the biggest comes supplied with two Fluke CNX Wireless Testers. This kit is supplied with a wireless clamp meter, wireless multimeter and a calibration voucher card. A great all round kit and offers a great saving on anyone looking to start using wireless test equipment.
The calibration voucher cards are being made up and should be with me in about a week. As a way of saying thank you to the forum, when I finally get these cards delivered I'll run a simple give-away competition on here for some free calibration voucher cards, so keep checking back!
As usual please, comment, like, PM and lead feedback. Or you can contact me from our details on isswww.co.uk/contact
