We are getting more and more queries with regards to these.

I understand it a very nervy time for all concerned.

So I believe, we should have a "Sub forum" under the Electrician talk section dedicated to these queries.

The bonus is it will keep them all in one place and make it much easier for eveyone to find. (I will go around and manually move everyone I can find on the subject).

What do you guys think.

Good Idea Canoeboy. I like that. :)

And by doing it that way - I will start a dedicated forum as a MAIN forum on the forum homepage and add all the "Scheme providers" as "Sub-forums" to that. (rather than sub-forums of sub forums). Perhaps?

Why have sub forums. Just have sticky posts on the one forum.

Because sticky posts will only be one thread and people will have to add to that one thread. It will then get in a mess and will be hard to read.

And I will not sticking every thread. (complete waste of time doing that).

However, perhaps a sticky at the top of the said forum with a list of what that provider requires (ie Napit etc ) and links to details on their members websites for what's available from them etcNapit provide sample hse, waste, complaints forms etc etc
Maybe - if that is the case, a dedicated forum member that is a member of said schemes should do one each? That way, it will be all on one OP instead of drips and drabs over gawd knows how many posts.

You can do Napit, if you wish to, Canoeboy?

:)

One sticky with all the details in would makse sense. Having seperate sub forums may end up diluting useful information. The OP can then be edited (and possibly closed) as and when info needs updating.

I think its a very good idea, keeping everything tidy and in one place can only be a help when trying to find info.

I voted no [despite my personal option, thanks for that]. Not a fan of breaking the forum up into increasingly smaller chunks. The search function works well.

If you do decide to go ahead then maybe a sticky for each scheme's requirements but no point keeping them all separate as advice given to someone joining one scheme is likely to be applicable to people joining another - if you get my point?

There is a good sticky about first time assessments already.

No it doesnt !!!!!!!!!

if it did we wouldnt be discussing this !!!!!!

too many lazy people cant be bothered to use the search facility

As you all know this is the one thing that grips my ..........

As one of my learned friends posted recently.......

only opens the threads that has something new and not the same old questions

have to agree ..........

I actually meant to start the sticky thread off for Napit - not all of it. :_|

I think its a good idea , Newbies will always be asking the same question about assessments , they are unaware of the number of times its been asked . This way we can direct them to this new place , to browse at their heart's content.

It's not the forum's fault if people are too idle to search for the info they need. The search does work! I can retrieve stuff. :D

I still think a lot of the info is common to all providers and it would be a shame to split them.

I`ve voted no, for a number of reasons (even though I`m overwhelmingly outnumbered...... :( :( )

1. I think `Pache mentioned in an earlier post - dilution. Specialisation basically means you know more & more about less & less - not the forum`s aim, as I understood it.

2. Again - previously commented - if peeps are incapable of utilising the search function, they should be incapable of passing an assessment; OR the search function isn`t as obvious as it should be...........

3. FCOL, why should we need to? If you have to go to a 3rd party site to find out what your chosen "scam provider" requires of you..........you really don`t have a clue, and probably need adult help to cross a main road - gawd help us all!!!

C`mon guys - lets have some common sense, and basic ability awareness - if people can`t find scam provider info on this forum; it ought to raise doubts as to their competency to carry out complex electro-technical works which have the built-in propensity to kill.

Over-the-top? Perhaps. But I hope this is somewhere I can say what I think without having to "censor" my comments for the `politically correct` brigade...........

Hi,

I voted yes for one simple reason.

Although the basics are covered in various threads, I think it could make an interesting read of say, current trends of assessors, how strict (or not) certain assessors are, things to watch for with certain assessors, things not to do (errors made) - that kind of thing.

I don't think everything's been covered in the 'Forum', so there could be some learning for everyone. :)

Oi 1) was me but was related to not having a sub forum for each scam and just having one scam assesment sub forum so any useful info thats unlikely to be scam specific does not get trapped in a place people not with that scam will not view it.

Also, the suggestion was for an Assessment sub forum not one for which scam to choose. Many people start second guessing themselves when it comes to assessment time and having a dedicated forum where they can decompress, in my opinion, is a good idea. As I also said before, putting all the useful info that is currently spread across multiple threads and sub forums in one consice place makes more sence.

I've voted yes, but with some reservations.

I'm not with a scam but hope to be later this year, so no bias here.

To be honest I don't care how hard the assesments are, if im competant that should'nt worry me, if I have to pick and choose to find the the easy assesment, then I'm not ready to do it, I would expect to be able to pass any of the assements if i'm competant.

However what I would like to see is a place where the merits of each scheme can be discussed.

I can find out what they all offer by visiting the websites, but as they say the best advert is word of mouth.

I am in favour of a new section, but don't think it should be subdivided. one sticky with basic details with a section for each provider, giving basic details.

What I am really interested in is everyones experience of useing the providers in real life, how good is the help, how much do they support you or do they take the money and run.

So yes to a new section where the merits of each provider can be discussed, no to subdividing it into seperate sections.

I want a section where the pros and cons of each provider can be talked about.
