Hi

Wondering if someone could offer some proffesional advice, my partner works as a vetinary nurse but i want a second opinion, we have a 7 weeks old it was dumped in bolton in the cold and someone brought the kitten into work, my partner took to the kitten and rspca decided we could keep it.

The cat has developed signs of cat flu and the vet at her work has suggested we do the following

Put Vick in Bown with Boiling water wrap it round the carrier in cling film

Put her in the bathroom with us when taking a hot shower

she is being injected with inflamtries to help take down the fluid in her lungs

we are giving her water by a syringe as she will not drink on her own but is eating perfectly fine

She is so playful, purrs away and sleeps fine

her symptoms are

Stuffy Nose

Sneezing

Loud Breathing

NO VOMITING AS YET

Seems good advice! keeping the nose clear of secretions with warm damp cotton wool may help. If she's well in herself I am always less worried. Sometimes they need antibiotics in addition to the anti-inflammatories if they pick up a secondary infection.

The virus can remain in the kitten forever and come out at times of stress.
