Ladies and gentlemen, the time has come. The prestigious award of 'TEF Forum Spark of the Year 2011' voting is open. The polls will be open for 2 weeks giving people ample time to vote.

Not only do you get the title but there's a real trophy you get to keep for a year and a medal you can keep forever!

If you pick 'other' you must specify! Either on the open forum or if you'd rather not say you can PM me.

Tbh not much variety on that list, all basically the same apart from Evans who has a lot of humour and a real world approach.

Graham,

I had asked to be left off the list but that was felt to be changing the criteria (being reputation points) so I was put on it,

from what I see, its quite a varied viewpoint of how to do things,

Special Location = quotes everything he states

KME = quotes what he can, and adds the real world

Evans Electric = just tells us how it has been done, and how it should still be, just get the job done and leave it safe and compliant.

Steptoe = talks Sh1te mostly, and likes beer

Rev James = adds the humour to sometimes otherwise depressing subjects

Admin = I like admin :|

Manator = puts an even keel on sometimes heated debates from an electrically trained moderators point of impartial vision

Sidewinder = a reasoned and highly skilled voice in the more specialised industrial and control panel side of things, (along with the swimmer. )

Andy TM = a reasoned point of view from the everyday man on the ground that has to deal with everything not covered elsewhere.

just tell me where Ive got it wrong,

this beer is nice, :D

When you put it that way maybe I was being a bit harsh. There are some good people on this forum left of that list.

Graham, thats only my opinion,

you are welcome to your own, and as the poll clearly states, AN other, at your discretion, to be named when you vote I presume,

its not my poll so I dont make the rules.

Looks like special location has it in the bag again this year :Applaud . Apache should be on the list according to the rules.

yes, I had mentioned that,

but, the rules also state, 'spark' of the year,

and Im sure Apache will tell you he is more of an animal doctor , :)

although I myself feel canoeboy should be there too, (rather than myself moreorless)

personal opinions cannot always be used to sway things,

I suppose without some sort of cut off everyone would be on the list.

You can vote for anyone not on the list by choosing the "other" option. The list has been prepared from the top reputations awarded and therefore could not be a personal list by the Poll starter. Everyone is just has important on this forum, special location would be the first to admit this. The award is in recognition of the help given during the year, if special location has it in the bag again this year, it would probably be the style and content of his help. Now I could not be bothered going through not one regulation book, but two, to show page numbers and regulation numbers like he does. However you are left in no doubt after one of his answers of the place to go for verification.

Think of it like one of those national tv awards, your favorite program may never be on the list to vote, and you may even not like the ones that are, but remember its all good fun. If you vote for another not on the list, give a brief reason for your choice, and maybe others would agree with you and vote accordingly.

I deliberately left myself off the list although I did feature the last 2 times. You can nominate 'other' either in this thread or by PM to me. The forum only allows 10 options in a poll so there's the top 10 sparks (minus the vet) and 'other' as an option.

canoe for me, been very helpful to me this year! KME comes a close second.

Its no good you all voting for Special Location , I assassinated him the other day . He'll no t be back !!! WWaaahhhaaaahhaaa ( Sinister manic laughing )

Got him paraltic drunk at Ma Pardoe's GuinnessGuinnessGuinnessGuinnessGuinnessGuinnessGuinness then into the Zoo in Dudlaaaaay and threw him into the Ardvaark enclosure.

Oh curses !!! They're vegetarian !! BRIAN !!!!! Stupid boy!!! :C

where is boat boy ???
Boatboy only has 4 green things , deemed to be " Really nice" as opposed to " Shining beacons of light" etc Surprising but true considering his prolific input.
I think he is eleventh on the forums reputation grading, which although Apache left himself out of the list, still leaves Canoeboy one position out because of the "Other (Must Specify)" Option. Unfortunately the limitation of 10 options maximum on a poll is too restricting for a survey like this. Apparently Evans Electric, you are a name known to all. I trust not in the same way that the Police sometimes say that about likely suspects they wish to interview over recent criminal activity. As well as Canoeboy there are many other valuable contributors to the forum, who are missed off this poll in my opinion, names such as M107, SlipShod, NozSpark, PC Electrics, apprentice87 to name but a few. Quite obviously members who have been here longer will have had a greater opportunity to accumulate reputation points, (Green dots), or Scoob's as some members prefer to call them. However it is possible that a newer member has actually received more reputation acknowledgments over the past 12 month period than someone who may have more overall dots accumulated from 2 or more years ago. This is an unfortunate limitation in how the poll is generated, as such it may not represent the member who has been the most helpful over the past 12 months. I offer my thanks and respect to all of our members who have broken away from a solitary green dot. MEMBERS LIST - Talk.electricianforum.co.uk... a forum with a difference.

I would rather be left out too. And someone take my place. (may be too late now? But certainly from next year on, Patch).

BUMP!

I think this poll ends this week, so far gentlemen & ladies your voting contributions have been poor compared to last year. In 2009 (the first year we ran a poll), 29 members voted and the winning majority was 41.4% of the votes. In 2010, a much more respectable 52 votes, and a winning majority of 30% of the votes. So far this year only 33 votes, but we do have a neck & neck majority tie of 24.2% votes between two members. How about another 20+ voters to beat last years overall votes count? Despite the noted limitations of the poll, we may as well get involved with a bit of forum Christmas fun.
