Hi

Im just having a thermostatic mixer shower fitted, the mains cold supply is 4 bar, the hot supply is from a cistern and is half a bar. How critical is it for the supplies to be balanced or am I worrying needlessly?

Thanks

Malc

Malcy,

It will run much better if the pressures are balanced.

The hot should be from a seperate surrey flange on the cylinder and the cold should be from a seperate outlet in you HW header tank

Thanks Noz.

Where the shower is to go is where a corner basin was. So the hot & cold are already there it would be a major problem to alter this

The cold is straight from the mains.

I had exactly the same problem a couple of years ago, I fitted a pressure reducing valve (think as Nozspark mentioned) onto my cold feed to the shower mixer, got it from ebay. After that no more problems.
