Hi all.

I did an inspect and test today and have a question. The MET has a woven steel mesh cable running to a sheath on the incoming supply. I know it's not up to current standards but is this cable a safety issue? Ze is within limits for TN-S.

Any thoughts from someone with more experience appreciated.

Thanks!

Yes it does ask you to comment on it's condition,,, doesn't ask anything about it's size though, and I could bet you that if you called the DNO out to look at it they'd say that it's perfectly OK
I can only agree with you 100%, after all they have no interest these days, unless it's to cause us grief.

Yes the EICR I'm completing does ask for a comment on it but it is well within safety limits for TN-S system so I was happy with it. Not up to current standards as far as I'm concerned but the regulations aren't retrospective of course.

What do you mean that it's not up to current standards?

Do you know the standards that the DNO work to?

That braided earth cable is part of the suppliers equipment and does not fall within BS7671
