Frassy has had a dark grey, rough, scaly rash on the inside of each back leg for a month now. I took her to the vet and was told it may be 2nd stage pyoderma and given antibiotics and shampoo. This made no difference so I was then told to use pure aloe vera by a lady who specializes in herbal treatments...she said it looks like a pollen allergy. After a few weeks it's certainly got lighter / smoother in one leg but rough with small pus-coloured bits on the other (pic attached). Very grateful for all your help. Thanks in advance!

1. Ignore crazy herb lady - these charlatans should be locked up.

2. Go back to the vets. This needs further investigation.

There are what look like pustules or papules and some kind of allergy is possible but pollen way down the list - I promise you can't diagnose that just by looking.

Are you up to date with flea treatment? (using an effective product regularly)

Is the dog insured? There would always be the option of referral to a [proper] vet who actually specialises in dermatology.

Most vets would be able to do some further tests in house - such as blood allergy testing, skin biopsy or a dietary food trial to rule out food allergies.
