[SIZE=10pt]I have always been told/understood that the reference method for cables buried in plaster was reference method c (clipped direct), however I have seen reference made to reference method a (enclosed in conduit in an insulated wall). Does anybody have a definitive answer please?[/SIZE]

methods 1,2,57,58,59 or 60 may be the ones you are referring to???
Just match the one for your particular building structure.
