my neighbour has a king charles that appears to be pooing a sort of snotty blood,

7 years old,

dog seems to be good in itself, have been starving it since yesterday, and now seems a bit lethargic in itself,

prob due to no food.?

any ideas?

booked into vet tomorrow BTW, but any pointers as to a probably cause would be good.

thanks.

Almost certainly colitis - an inflammation of the colon. The irritation causes blood and mucus in the faeces. Dog can feel rather off colour.

So long as the dog is not being sick then keep feeding the dog. Food in the intestines has a protective effect. Even a little bland scrambled egg/pasta/rice/chicken/white fish.

The dog will need some medication. Some dogs have a single flare up in their life, others need ongoing medication.

thanks Apache, exactly what the vet/person told her over the phone it may be, colitis,

vets at 10am in morning anyway to be certain, get some drugs,

yes, just good to have a 2nd opinion,

as I said, vet tomoz at 10am anyway, just didnt want her to be blinded by BS,

and hit with massive bills she can ill afford,

will keep you posted on findings.
