I switched from SKY to BT Vision a couple of months ago and found that my existing TV aerial is not good enough for the BT Vision Box.

I am therefore receiving the digital channels via the BT broadband function, but there are quite a few channels I can't get, which means I can't record them via the BT Box.

What I need therefore, is for some local company (Stockport) to upgrade my aerial and tune it to the BT Box, so that I receive all available channels through it. I also have the old SKY box and satellite dish doing nothing. It may be that I can use this equipment for something else, but I don't know what.

BT have a preferred Company, who work on a fixed price to supply & install a new aerial and set the whole thing up, but I would prefer to use someone on the Forum.

If anybody is interested in the job, give me a call on 0161 440 9042 or e-mail me on david.stansfield.me.uk, or talk to me on the Forum.

Thanks

With your old dish you could get yourself a cheap, Freesat HD receiver and plug it straight in:

As for aerials I use a company in Sheffield for all "things" aerial related. Not a million miles from you:

Wrights seem the other name that gets the thumbs up:

Just thought........you have I think to be a bit careful buying a Freesat box as in some are "proper" Freesat but others just satellite receivers. Something to do with getting the "proper" Freesat EPG or not!

Depends whether you're bothered or not with the Freesat EPG, it'll make no difference as to the channels you can receive. Explains a bit more here:

I'm not saying this one but just an indicator of how cheap a basic (non HD) Freesat box can be:

I dont like heights,  :(
Me neither........30 years too late:

When this was taken the girl photographer (whom I'm sure batted for the other side) was shouting up at me "Stop moving! The sun's glinting off your helmet!". Of course I was laughing even harder as was my mate doing dead ants on the roof:

Unfortunately, no takers on the TEF Forum.

Problem solved, however. Phoned a local guy in the morning, he came around 4.00 PM and had finished the job by 5.00 PM.

Installed good quality log periodic aerial on gable end of house, hardly seen from the road. New bracket, pole and cable. Really neat job into the house and he set the whole thing up through the BT box. Left the SKY dish, in case I decide to switch back sometime.

Left the existing aerial, to now feed just the other TV in the bedroom.

AND THE PRICE?    £85.00 inc. VAT.  BT wanted £120.00 via a national Company.

Support your local Tradesmen is my motto!
