When can an apprentice go out and work unsupervised. Should his/her 3rd year be finished or if competent enough during there 3rd year....

In our 2nd year we were all doing small jobs alone, in our 3rd yr we were doing more stuff, including breakdowns if we could, in our 4th yr we were doing projects as apprentice teams.

HOWEVER, this was all on site as we were factory apprentices, so never far from help!

Did you mean to lock the topic?

There is no reason that someone on their first day can't work alone depending on they competency. Nothing magically happens the day you qualify!

Didnt mean to lock the topic, im with a maintenance company and an apprentice just in his 3rd year is out in a van doing repairs, he has also bedn left to do an electrical test unsupervised by his tradesman, but ive been told its fine by higher supervisors

end of my 1st year you were expected to be able to completely wire a new build domestic, in a week for 1st fix abeit,

dropped at site each morning, and picked up each night, with the spark checking at the end of each day to make sure it was right and nothing missed,

if you couldnt do it you didnt get your pay rise for 2nd year.
