I have brigs and straton 7000 watt generator. (just to be clear i know jack about electrical), I have a welder that i need to run off it. A hobart stickmatelx235/160dc. I aboslutly need to run this generator for my eagle project. But the kicker is evertime i light an arc (in which the characteristics of the arc are perfectly normal) the generator read out says to remove the load (overloaded) so what could go wrong, like i want to know what will fail first. [30 amp plug going to a 50 amp socket for the welder]

Any setting, i havnt actualy gauged out how much it is using. However the generator runs the welder as if it was pluged into a wall, nothing is out of the normal as far as welding capabillities.

First off check the hobart manual to see if the welder is designed to run off a generator in the first place. lots are NOT. If you do, you are likely to be wanting to buy a new welder soon.....
