Another problem I have just come across:

Unidare (Dimplex) SH tripping its resettable overheat protector every night. Phoned Capri and was advised that Dimplex have had a lot of problems with this type of cutout. There is a kit which replaces the limit stat and cutout with a new type. Apparently Dimplex have replaced loads of these within warranty and of course clients are having to replace them out of warranty too.

Are there models that don't have a thermal link? In the States we have Steffes, Marley and Steibel-Eltron heaters, and people generally keep plants and paper on them.

are you for real? the point in the thermal link is stop it getting too hot because people are stupid enough top put something onto of it (along with other internal faults). if you do remove the link, best check your insurance covers deliberate fire damage, because youll be needing it.

and best move closer to a fire station too.

and i know your american, but you do know paper is flammable, dont you?
