I'm looking for a data cable tester for occasional use. We've got the all singing and dancing fluke network testers, but they're a bit much for testing, say, a damaged point.

I had a Screwfix cheapy but it passed away. The one the boss bought in, is even worse and didn't work out of the box.

Im looking at a amprobe Lan 1

Has anyone got experience of this or a recommendation for another. Not silly Money though.

Thanks.

I recently did some network stuff and hadnt for some time. Got a kit from ebay - tester, BT punchdown tool, crimper and tester (similar to mod tap but cheapo) and a stripper. All for £6 delivered. The only carp item was the crimper which I chucked and used the one I've had 'man and boy' .... on the whole performed well. If its going to be regular work then spend some ££££s
