New member so please be patient.

I am currently carrying out an EICR on an office block.

Apart from a long list of other problems what do i classify a lack of surge protection as?

Or do i not need to note it.

Any help appreciated.

Mainly because it is included in the checklist in GN 3.

It is an office block with sensitive equipment in.

There is no lightning protection.

Happy to accept i am potentially creating a problem where one does not exist.

no legal requirement for surge protection. If you are talking about lots of IT equipment with high earth leakages then that is a different matter involving earthing arrangements, but still doesn't involve surge protection unless there is a high chance of lighting strike, a very debatable subject. As the building hasn't been struck by lightning previuosly, chances are the risk is low.

suggest you report your opinions as recommendations
