Green Cable

Hi everyone

I have just became a member as I didn't know this handy site existed before.

I have been an electrician for ten years now and today for the first time on a job I noticed a green cable attached to a radiator pipe.

I don't know what to do, can I remove it completely as it is now a water operated radiator not electric.

I am assuming it must have been electric before but has been converted.

Im stumped.

is it green, or green/yellow?

it may be a bond ,which at one time would have been normal on a wet radiator within a bathroom,

whether or not it is still required will depend on a lot of things, RCD protection for a SL etc,

Well if it is green it must be pre circa 1974

Surprised that in 10 years you have never come across one....there again I have only EVER fitted one Earth Rod

No offence

stick your tongue on the live. if it trips, its got a working RCD. if it doesnt trip then there is either no RCD or it doesnt work.

yes. how much depends if the result is working RCD or non working / none. either way, its best your hurt through your incompetence than an innocent person

I tested an RCD this morning with the toaster, somehow the "toast holder" had found its way into the element? :C the young man was most perturbed that Thomas the tank engine just disappeared. I must put in a circuit into the kitchen.

Which reminds me... The is an old 4mm bond in the kitchen and its green / yellow!

Stick it on ebay. Someone will buy it to "prove" it's an old install.
