Hi Gents,

I worked in Eire for a 13 yrs there they used NYM cable as used on the continent round white triple insulation 3x 1.5   3x 2.5 etc and its available in 100m 250m or 1 kilometer easy to clip and install inside or out. Why don't we use it in GB apart from not Basec or BS approved as far as I know but I expect it exceeds all those specs.

Any idea's???????????????

Cables are BASEC or BS approved for a reason lol. Using any cable that isn't here is a dangerous dangerous game.

many people don't like change, it involves having to think a bit :slap

My guys like using SY flex rather than SWA, if not being buried in ground or exposed outdoors, basically because it's a lot easier to install and terminate, but still has shielding for mechanical protection.

did a flat conversion a few years ago. Building regs insisited on sound insualtion in walls and ceilings, so rockwool everywhere, needed 4mm to get 20A never mind 32A

Thanks Gents,

I was not going to use it but it must meet all the euro standards, about time manufacturers made it and applied it to BASEC. The danger is of course we might import it ourselves at a cheaper price than sold here. Surely that could never be a motive for keeping us using twe could it??

Regards Steve
