Front Garden Lamp-Post

A customer asked what was involved in putting a lamppost in his front garden. He'd heard that it might not be allowed due to dazzling drivers, or building regs or something. It would be a decorative 3m high sort, not your normal highway type!

Can anybody, erhum, shed light or wisdom on this kind of install please?

Providing it's not a halogen spot light then don't really see the problem. ??

If it's for decoration then it should only have a low watt decorative lamp.

A call to local planning may be in order - but would this comes under "highways"??

providing its not going to be too bright on traffic etc outside the property, just fit it

Just do it Dave as long as its on the customer's property. There has been a few of the old 500 watt Tungsten Halogen spots glaring straight at traffic that no one did anything about so should be fine.
