Hi all - looking for an engineers and/or users manual for a very old alarm control panel, the Diamond 400 which was one of Gardtecs first panels.

Been doing intruder alarm and CCTV installations for about 20 years and this is the first Diamond 400 I've ever come across!

Thought this site had an index of old panel manuals?

Anyone?

Thanks!

That is an old panel! Unfortunately most of the sites that did have the installation manuals are now not on line. I think you will need to go onto a specialist security and fire forum for any information. Given the age I would just advise the client to have it changed, I am sure they do not conform to the latest regulations.

It probably doesn't comply to the latest regulations................but then it doesn't need to, since it complied at the time of installation.

But yes, something that old and obsolete best got rid of while its still working than to wait till it fails and then have to wait for it to be changed.

Richard, its not like the wiring regulations where retrospective regulations are not deemed unsafe. With security systems its a different ball game. The detection and notification systems have undergone vast changes in order to eliminate or reduce false alarms and nuisance disturbance.

What you say is true, but it only applies if:

1) It is a "signalling" system

2) Lost its police response.

I will bet you a virtual pint the system in question in this case is "bells only" and so as I said does not need to comply to the latest regulations. Doesn't mean it shouldn't be upgraded due to being obsolete though.

Thanks guys, well aware of it not conforming having installed and serviced up to Red Care systems lol! This is a friend who's mum died recently and while the house is empty want the alarm working again, Hadn't been used for years as they forgot the code. Last resort is to replace it but thought we'd try and give it one last chance by defaulting and reprogramming, hence need for manual as doubt VERY much that it's menus will be even close to modern Gardtec stuff. Simply going to be used as a basic working deterrent until they decide what's going on.

Thanks again!

Ok, went to see the panel for the first time yesterday (its 25 miles away), found four worn out numbers on the keypad and through some logic and technique, I worked out the code. Found a user manual tucked behind the top of the casing which allowed me to change the code. Also found that, when booting up from no power, you have to do the hash-star first before the code to stop the sounder - code alone doesn't do it. Despite it being dated 1990, it's still a good 'un, better than a few modern panels I could mention.

Did take a couple of photos of the manual but doubt if anyone else would want it.

Interesting day with a good result!

You don't mean a 9500 do you? (that didn't have an "NVM" chip, it had some huge multiple pin chip, and a back up battery)

I have seen  the same thing with the engineers code on a 98.

Your possibly correct, it was a few years  ago and i dont do any work for that company now plus no one around here stocks Scantronic.

Hmm, definitely uploaded a zip folder called Gardtec Diamond 400, where's it gone then?

Will have a look see...

Not sure what happened to the first but done another here.

Can't do this for all the other manuals as I'd be here all year, got loads of intruder alarm and cctv stuff..

Whilst I gate necro posting just moved into a rent accommodation with diamond 400 - assuming nix is still subscribed to this thread (or anyone similar) I would love to talk shop

starting from scratch with this unit & a code but not an electrician by trade (so civilian grade intelligence on all things electrical)

Welcome to the forum, According to his profile Nix hasn't logged on since 21 Feb 2016, so I doubt you will get a reply. You say rented accommodation, wouldn't the alarm be the landlords responsibility?
