So as you may be aware I'm involved in a project whereby the solar firm has gone to the wall, so I'm looking for some info and come across this?

is this the way forward given the low to non existant fir rate? 

How much is that kit?  It doesn't seem to show the proper ebay listing, just the bare text?

I have seen 4KW DIY kits on the bay for £2000

Having missed the boat on my new build (partly for financial reasons, and partly because until the house is finished i don't have an EPC so could never have claimed the full FIT) I am resigned that the only way I will have solar PV is to buy the cheapest kit I can and DIY install it.

To make even that viable you have to pretty much ensure near 100% usage of what you generate, so surplus enerrgy dumped to the immersion ehater and probably some battery storage is going to be essential.

ProDave is probably right, that these days the only way to make it pay would be to store the energy in some way.
