I'm guessing your best bet would be to speak to a local college? How old are you?

thanks for answering sharpend -I'm 38 -ive just finished my level 3 city and guilds in electrical install and 17th edition at southgate college - they are the people who offered it and it starts soon but you have to have a job eg electricians mate to enroll and I am still wating for my ecs card to turn up so I'm in limbo at the moment. anyhow as you can see I have no work experience what is the best way of getting my foot in the door as all electrician mate and improver jobs require proven experience.any advice appreciated

Failing finding a placement with a local firm, then agencies are your best friend, they seem to thrive on people like yourself.
