Didnt think this job would happen but many months later it's caught up with me!

Got to add a socket onto a older council install and was wondering if this was an RCD or ELCB?

I assume it's an RCD labeled as an ELCB given the age of the installation.

I think it was Hackbridge Faraday that coined the RCCD name to differentiate between ELCB’s.

That’s going back to when I started my time. To get one out of stores it’s a wonder you didn’t require an armed guard they cost an arm and a leg.

Just looked in my IETB log book, 26/10/73 was the first time I came across one. Nothing ever changes “RCCD won’t reset.”

Thanks!

Figured it was an RCD but wanted to make sure the internals weren't different as I want in & out as quick as possible.

I am still hungover from the weekend and got mixed up with VOLCB's & the old 4293 RCD's!  :Blushing

:Salute

It was the 4P ones I had to alter the test button to work on 550V as there was no neutral. Hackbridge Faraday used the same base moulding as MK but the reset mechanism was slightly different.

It was a bit daft really, we were adding RCCD’s to earth proving units. Strange how many went faulty and had to be replaced, even stranger was how the “faulty” units vanished.
