We have been working on a solar farm built only 4 years ago. Now they have been having problems with DC cables getting soggy and shorting out. DC cables have been buried direct in the ground (apparently cable manufacturers said this woud be ok) with no protection except for a bit of ducting that extends about 50mm below ground level. This has made lovelly little nesting places for mice who have also been chewing the cables. Many repairs have been done using copex laid on the surface - interesting how the grass has grown over them, and how full of water they are....

It's called forward planning surely, those cables will be able to carry more load if they are in water as it will take away the heat, if they want to add more panels it could save running more cables, just tag onto those.lol
