Hi,

I have a single  Edison type down light in my garage and wanted to replace it with a LED or florescent tube light, so that I get more light.

Can I do a simple replacement ie remove the downlight and  wire up the tube light?

Or is there more to consider ?

Thanks

P

When you say "downlight " do you mean a simple hanging pendant with a light bulb in it ?

The job should be simple depending on various factors,  the main one being .... as long as theres an earth in your wiring it would be fairly simple to replace what you have with a standard fluorescent fitting  or an LED version of same .

These things are metal and must be earthed ,   it would be good to see some photos ,  you need to make 10 posts before you can post a pic or a passing Moderator may click a box to help the thread along .

Thanks Evans.

Yes "a simple hanging pendant with a light bulb in it".

Just unscrewed the pendant and it has an earth.

What are the other factors that I should consider before I go off shopping?

Thanks

Thanks for the suggestion PPP. That's a good option which I did not consider.

The only issue I could see with that item was that bulb is not replaceable and the warranty is for 1 year.
