Is this the day the Labour party are put to the sword?.................with the current clown in charge they are in the words of a Norwegian commentator "in for one hell of a beating"

And for the younger generation amongst us .................................

I think it's going to be very interesting, Theresa May was foisted on us, we didn't elect her, Boris Johnson as foreign secretary! How did that happen? As for Corbyn well imo he's an idiot as well, I can't see anyone credible or trustworthy to run the country.

There's much talk of a Scottish referendum when a new government gets in, tbh I'm sick of the constant cries "we are a united kingdom", we are far from united, the Welsh wanted their own thing, as did the Scots, and a lot of the trouble in Ireland was down to the fact that the North didn't want to be part of the so called "united kingdom", and because of the lack of money the South didn't want the north either.

If I had my way I'd give London independence from the rest and let them get on with it, everything today seems to be based around what London wants. Manchester wanted to bid to host a world event recently, some sort of festival of industry or such like, they were told by London that they were not allowed to try because of the cost, yet London went for the Olympic games, again something we could ill afford, yet that was fine, I don't believe the whole country benefited from them having the Olympics, can't see people in remote rural areas seeing any benefit, can you? But no because London wanted it we had to pay for it. Imo let London take it's politicians, it's royals and all the other carp that they think runs Britain and let them go it alone, then we'd see who's better off, one thing's for certain, this kingdom stopped being united ages ago.

Ha !   United Kingdom !!!  :C      Its actually divided by the North / South divide  and major cities are even  divided  if there are two soccer teams ...divide again by religion ... divide again by the Scottish & Welsh borders ...divide again by two Irelands ... divide again by City or Country ...if its a university town its Town & Gown ...White collar - Blue collar workers .

Theres four  teams here ...went to job once , the bloke  says "Yom  Brummies aye yer " ?    He was a Baggies (WBA) supporter .  "Yow aye Bluenoses am yer "?   In my posh Brummie accent I tell him I grew up in the shadow of Villa Park so I have to say  they are the team I follow .  "

I heard him say to his missus that there was a Villa supporter in the house ...she told him to shut it & grow up !!!

I would trust Corbyn long before the others, but I don't know what to vote for this time. I'm sure it will be turned into a Brexit debate, but this isn't the burning issue for me. Destruction of the NHS, Local Government and now Education is far more important to me as Osbourne's austerity plans start to cut deeper and deeper into our lives. Taxing self-employed harder, sneaking up tax on insurance and firk knows how many other sneaky increases in true taxation rates have been imposed on the British Public, yet the tax loopholes for the wealth and large businesses haven't been tackled..... :redcard

And the loopholes never will be closed, because the very people being asked to vote on these matters are either the ones with the money or friends of those with the money, it would be a bit like asking turkeys to vote for Christmas. I'm sorry but where anything like that is concerned it needs to be decided by people who have no involvement, not those with most to lose.

it is the problem with centerist and right wing government, all blab on about not upsetting big buisness. Somehow I wouldn't see the likes of Amazon not trading in the UK if the loopholes were closed, and as most of these are down to our formerly having a world empire, is seems rather strange that these tax breaks still exist. Need a good socialist government for a few years, trouble with socialists is they spend too much time arguing amoungst themselves  :^O

So Nicola Sturgeon thinks she can forge a left wing coelition with Labour and the Lib Dems - then get an independence referendum, win it, then approx 50 SNP MP's leave Westminster and the Coelition then collapses - that sounds like a recipe for disaster for the UK.......

Yep- labour are just ****. That is why they are the largest political party in europe and have more than TWICE the number of members the tories have got. In fact, labour have more members than ALL the other parties combined..

Now, if they all get out and actually vote for the party they are a member of, they would win by a mile...

Of course, you can vote tory and kiss goodbye to the NHS, it is already privatised and the law has been changed so that they can start to charge people any time they like.. Schools will be next. You will have to pay for your kids to go to school, be jailed if you do not, and there will be one education system for the rich and another for the rest of us...

Of course you do know the reason they have announced an election?? Thought not... The tory lot only have a small majority, what is it 17 or something???? Well, any second now, the police are going to announce if they are going to proceed against the MP's that took part in the electoral fraud last time. If they do, those concerned will lose their seats [bye bye majority] there would have to be a load of by-elections, and the twats concerned would be banned from being an MP for three years.

Now, call an election, a fresh one, and you nicely sidestep all of that.... So.. You want fraudsters to run the country??

The people get the government they deserve....

john..

schools are already under attack, reduced funding for state schools, money being pumped into grammer schools.

as for the people, they get the government they are fooled into voting for, and the media is owned by who????

Isn't that a contradiction in terms,?

Good socialist government,?

Ask the Soviet Union if it works,? I

Ultimate socialism doesn't work.  This has been proven.

Capitalism has also failed.

The world is going back to being controlled by the rich for the benefit of the rich, to the detriment of the normal person.

The NHS and state schooling in the UK is almost at extinction point, as are all other public services, most of which have now been sold off to private companies which have Tory MP's or Tory party MP's/members/supporters either at the helm, or in places of controlling influence in the organisations.

In the words of Pte Frazer in Dad's Army, "we're doomed, doomed I tell you", unless you are a millionaire, then shortly, in the UK and before long the rest of the civilised World, you will be a slave again, owned by the global players such as Amazon etc. who will be running the Governments, it has already started in the USA and look where that has got us, closer to nuclear conflict in a few short weeks than we have been in the last 20+ years.

Perhaps that is the best solution, let loose all the nukes, blow the planet to bits, and none of this then matters because life as we know it will cease to exist.

At least we are all equal in death.

Who the hell would want a government that has in the past blocked an electricians pay rise, introduced part p and swamped the industry with foreign labour to depress pay rates

Yes, but that was under that tosser blair. If you had a PROPER labour government, and the working man had supported the unions, there would be NO foreign, not properly qualified labour here.. You would all have had a country with proper industries that would be keen to employ all you electricians. [mines, quarries, railways, steelmaking, car making, motorbikes, need i go on...] What you got now then??? Name ONE SINGLE THING that the tories did for ordinary working people..... [Good luck with that one...]

john..

^^ a "proper" Labour Government?

Hum, most people think they want a left wing Government until they realise they will be taxed to the hilt. Comrade Corbyn thinks that over £70K is "rich" - for most people around my way its a lot but absolutely necessary to keep a roof over your heads - due to the uncontrolled population rise and the resulting pressure on housing costs...

As for your "one thing" that's EASY - just look at the increase in the tax threshold - its £11500 this year.... so nearly £1K per month tax free - which is a lot of money in across the country except in the larger cities and the South East....

Under Labour it was far less and they did away with the 10% band too .....

Even the Scottish Government didn't help their "own" - they signed deals for the new 4th bridge which meant shipping in finished steel from China, rather than making it within 10 miles ..... talk about a kick in the teeth.

No!!! not a whole £1000 better off?????  Compare your utility bills now, now that they are all sold off to the foreigners, and what they would be if they were state owned..

All the tories have done is to shift taxes from central government, to local government... [How much is your council tax????]
