hi. The water in my immersion has been running far too hot for a couple of weeks now. I have changed the thermostats in the lower element. Could it be the element itself that is the problem or should I try and change the upper thermostat too? I know pictures paint a thousand words so enclosing photos in the hope that someone can help. Thanks.

depends if you use the top one or not. if its used, then only altering the bottom wouldnt be very helpful

it could also be a sign that the thermostat is failing and will shortly fail, leaving the cutout to hopefully do its thing

Thanks. I’m thinking of replacing the bottom element altogether. It is a thermtec 14” element. I would like to fit a titanium one as I live in a very hard water area. Can I replace the current one with any 14” titanium element - if so, coold anyone recommend one. Thanks

I don't  think you need to change the heater itself .  ( I presume you have no test equipment  )    I'm guessing its the top heater stat ..as you've changed the others to no avail.

I don't change heaters anymore either .   Some cylinders today are so thin they twist & rupture .
