I have a TURBOMAX 242 2/5 boiler

the gas engineer came to fix the boiler because it was not heating the water properly

Meanwhile he examined the newly installed viewing boxes in the loft (where the flue is)

He came down stairs to tell me it wasn't good news but that

"the flue would need reconnecting and re-commissioning of appliance would be required???

He has switched off the gas

Could anyone please tell me how much a job like this will cost?

He has suggested that scaffolding may be required

Regards

Well this is  an Electrician's Forum  , Old Boiler  so I don't think you'll get any prices from us to be honest .   And we certainly can't comment on anything to do with gas.

With scaffolding  it could be expensive .    However you don't want a boiler filling the loft with carbon monoxide fumes  and killing everyone .

Just a suggestion from an old cynic ....can you take a look yourself  or get someone  just to check that there is actually a problem with the flue  ?

By the way what are  these  " Viewing boxes"  in the loft . ?   Has someone damaged the flue  ?
