Hi all! Recently moved into a Victorian terrace which we’re renovating and there is an old electrical connector (?) above the main stairwell. Tried A google search for door bell, butler bell, light etc. and can’t find anything. We’ve got an electrician in next week but it’s driving me mad not knowing what it is. Anyone any idea? Cheers!

I've got one of them somewhere on one of my shelves left over from the early 1980's, it is suppose to have a white cover on it.  I am going to try and find that tomorrow if I do I post a pic up.  Mmmm wonder what else I will find.

Amazing! It will definitely be going, must not have been used for decades. Thanks so much!

Look what I found, still with a £1.20 price label on it, quickly connected it up and it still works a treat.

£1.20 wow!! Might be a silly question but how are these powered? Are we safe to assume that this won't be working/connected anymore as there is no button and it can just be removed?

Tells you on the pic😀

41/2V battery or a bell transformer

if there is no push button it will struggle to work, probably a bell transformer beside your consumer unit, easy job for your spark to remove.
