Surge protection

Hi I'm doing an new installation at my new house and I never installed a Surge protection before. I read that they need a 32 Amp MCB . I would like to know why 32 Amp and if it's compulsory. I also read that there are some with integrated MCB.

RCD's perhaps?

SPD's aren't required in a domestic situation.

Good obs Zee, even so Malta is I believe in the EU and apparently I’m told our regs are aligned with the EU so this leads me to conclude that it may bear some relevance only if what I’m told is true?????
