security light

hi I am new to this forum and seek advice from the experts my garage was broken into and tools stolen I have a security light with a motion sensor thinking this would be all I need but it didn't work. I would like to rig up a system where I use a motion sensor only and a light that will come on in my bedroom which is the other side of my house, rather than at the garage. can it be done and how from my garage to my bedroom it would be 40 metres away.  ta.

You could have a light AND a sounder/buzzer/ bell  of some sort  fitted remotely.    And /or  /  a really loud siren/ Klaxon  in the garage . 

You need to fit a motion sensor  with a supply to it , and run a 1.00 mm  twin/E  cable to the bedroom .

Or fit a small alarm panel that uses a radio connection  ,  fit one motion sensor to it  and a sounder in the bedroom .    That would need a mains supply and 12V  to the sensor .
