Weekend work leicester

Electrical Experience

I am looking at doing some voluntary electricians work at weekends with a local electricians who needs a hand.

I have completed all my level 2 and 3 electrical qualifications of my own back and I just need to prepare for my AM2 exam

My qualifications are:

l City and Guilds 2365 Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installations (Buildings and Structures)

l City and Guilds 2382 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations

l City And Guilds 2392 Fundamental Inspection Testing and Initial Verification

l City and Guilds 2393 Level 3 Certificate in Building Regulations for Electrical Installations in Dwellings (Part P)

l City and Guilds 2365 Level 3 Diploma NVQ in Installation Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment (Building Structures and Environment)

l City and Guilds 2391 Periodic Inspection, Initial Verification, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations

l ECS card

I am currently work for a engineering company I am doing electrical and mechanical maintenance of machinery which I have been doing for 8 years so I have a good understanding of tools and power tools and how to use them. I have a good grasp on electronics and electrical fault finding

I just need to gain some hands on experience I have done some small domestic jobs myself.

I am free after 3pm on Fridays and after 4.30pm in the week as well as free all day most Saturdays and Sundays I have my own tools and will drive to where ever you or the jobs are and meet you there to help.

you might be better to try local rags church magazine, on your doorstep publication or the like and see what local companies advertise in these as a) they will be more local to you and b) it’ll be easier on the flexibility function?

Welcome to the forum Tom, I have edited your personal email address from your original post. As this is an open forum, you could get spam and junk email from anywhere in the world. Obviously if you are happy with that you can add your email back in. But generally its best to use the forum private message option if any member wants to contact another member directly.

I wish you well with your search, but I would point, out as has been mentioned several times in the past on similar posts, voluntary work is not as easy and without liabilities as it used to be years ago. Your  big obstacle is the abundance of workplace red-tape. Even if you are willing to work for free, if a customer is paying someone else for the work you are assisting with, then it is a workplace, and therefore heath & safety laws apply. So if an accident or damage was to occur, to you, or a third party, or the property you are working at, who will accept liability to cover any compensation/insurance costs?  Unfortunately in this modern pass the blame culture, unless there is a bit of paper passing the buck onto someone else, a lot of companies may just think you are too much of a risk. Even though they may appreciate the offer of some cheap labour to help get the job done. So if you don't get much response don't take it too personally.  In these situations it is "who you know" not "what you know" that is the major factor to swing something in your favour.
