So...  in amongst all the waffle cr4p and other useless "News" that I keep hearing on the radio/TV/interweb...

A quite frequent comment that has cropped up...  is about telling us to "work-from-Home" to reduce the spread of the virus.....

So I just wanted to check with the forum's esteemed and extensive group of combined knowledge....

When I am doing Mondays consumer unit change...  'Working-From-Home'....

What are the best elastic cables that others are using for customer fuse-boxes, wired and tested at home...

The total stretch distance between, customer & my work-from-home location is less than or equal to 5miles!

5 mile stretch Twin & Earth anybody???

:C

And we can't even self certify as "sick" and claim any SSP.

Yep I can see all self employed tradesmen are going to take this really seriously and self isolate and wait for the repossession letter to drop on the mat because they can't pay the mortgage.

If people are this close to the edge , then they need to contact their mortgage company NOW to discuss payment holidays and /or interest only payments - and NOT leave it until they are missing payments.

The year I went SE, our mortgage company allowed us to go interest only for 1 year - and boy did that help big time.

Food shopping - on the subject of working from home, when people go out to go food shopping , they are pushing trolleys who have been "handled" by countless unknown people - this is how its going to get transmitted fast.

I did see a woman in Morrisons during the week with disposable gloves on - and with hindsight - probably a good idea.

On the point of mortgages, I do believe some providers are giving a 3month non payment holiday period for this unprecedented event.

as for shopping, is there any point people’s behaviour is pathetic and selfish. My wife has to use hand sanitiser and dettol spray as a norm as she has no immune system, do you think she has been able to get any? Not a chance.
now she is petrified to go out anywhere.

wonder if HMRC will offer any flexibility when the July payments are due for the SE?

No chance....

they will need all your money to bail out the airlines..

buy all these private hospital beds...

And pay all the SSP for all the real workers who are having 14days isolation 'off work'...

Oh.. and don't forget some poor sods are still trying to sort out the aftermath of flood damage....

(we don't seem to hear much about that now do we....?

But its was headline news every day a few weeks ago???)

Wonder what's happening with the money promised to improve flood defences...?

Give it a couple of week and we will have to bail all all football clubs who aren't in the Premiership..

as they have no gate revenues coming in...

Should we have a collection for the poor Premiership  millionaire  players ?     WHat no offers?

How times change  Eh!     I grew up by Villa Park  and remember  first team players  arriving  on a Saturday  morning   , ON THE BUS,  going into one of the pubs  or snooker hall  , most smoking .   Signing autographs , talking to the local kids then walking up the road into the stadium.

the computers & printers will be hard at work sending you letters demanding payment and not to bother contacting us since there wont be anyone there to answer

Quite probable as I very much doubt anyone has put a software patch into the automated late payment charges systems for all sorts of finance arrangements, Car finance, Bank loans, Mortgages, Credit cards, Gas & Electric, Water, Broadband, etc.  But maybe I am wrong and they already have the code "IF coronavirus=TRUE, THEN latepaymentletter AND £20 charge = FALSE". You never know, we all may be pleasantly surprised! I await your replies after we have all had 1 month of Government imposed lockdown!

Am I missing the plot somewhere, as I think I heard today the Government is asking numerous other manufacturing industries to start making ventilators. (e.g. JCB, i.e. those who make big yellow digging machines).

Now from my limited experience the majority of manufacturing is carried out by specialist machines to Cut, Mould, Bend, Fix, Weld, Label, or other type of assembly, to create a finished product using plant and machinery designed for that purpose. So how can they suddenly switch to being Ventilator manufactures without first installing loads of new machinery?
