Hello everyone, just a quick introduction from myself.

I'm a keen amateur DIY'er and I'm slowly updating parts of my house.  I'm hoping to pick up some tips and advice as I plan various changes.  For major work I will hire an experienced electrician but I'd like to try and improve my knowledge of electrical work and relevant regulations.

Thanks.

you will probably be wise to contact the spark at the start to clearly work out what he is happy for you to do or you might find that he is willing to do nowt if you try to bring him in half way through.

I'd agree with Roys  ...sparks may be only be OK with you  chasing socket boxes in ,  chasing out plaster for drops & re-plastering .
