Two Lights Two Switches is this possible?

Hi,

I have room 2 without a light next to a room 1 with a light and switch, and I want to use the switch in room 1 to also power the new light in room 2.

Is it possible to put a switch in room 2 back to back with the existing switch in room 1 and connect them in such a way that the lights can be turned on and off independently of one another to control lighting in each room separately?

If so how can I go about wiring it up?

Currently Room 1 has a 1 gang 1 way switch and room 2 has a 1 gang 2 way switch.

If it's possible then please explain or edit the image below with the information detailing any new hardware that I'd need.

supply to new light then cable to 2x 2 way switches... simple

but your diagram of existing light is also wrong... very wrong... neutral & switch live are 2 completely different cables and going by your diagram it will go bang

Sorry about the drawing, I just found an image online that was easiest to edit. It is standard UK wiring i.e. brown, blue and yellow/green.

There are three wires, brown and blue connected to 1 gang 1 way switch, the earth wire is not connected to anything.

Room 1 was wired like that previously and it works okay but I'm not sure it's correct, can you confirm whether the brown wire should be connected to L1 terminal?

The earth wire isn't connected to anything.

I can't supply to Room 2 light from the Room 1 light. I need to supply Room 2 light from the Room 1 switch.

So would the below image solve this problem or would it just turn on both lights at the same time using Room 2 switch?

Is there any way I can get them working independently using just the switch supply in Room 1?

well thats where you have a problem... there is no neutral at the switch to feed the other room...

Room 2 is housing a hot water tank with a power supply.

This isn't on the lighting circuit but could I tap into this power supply to light the room? If so how would you recommend I do it?

There is one closed panel with all the wiring for the pumps/actuators.

Do you see any issue with the heater turning on and off briefly when I occasionally go into this cupboard if I connect the light to the same switch?

^^ I do not recommend you go around to other circuits and start borrowing a neutral ....

back to the drawing board me thinks
