Do I need the update to this ?      A box keeps appearing , offering the latest version , but halfway through install  I see the comment  ..."  This file could damage your computer "   so I baled out .

Although it looks like the genuine Adobe Flash site.

I would not bother.

What do you actually use Adobe flash player for?  I thought it was some legacy thing now not needed.  I don't believe my present computer even has it installed.

Adobe Flash Player is a product that is approaching its EOL.. Dec 2020.

As it originates back to 1996..

Basic rule I always apply is IGNORE all unexpected pop-box boxes requesting updates or downloads..

As they are an easy way for scum to get you to load viruses onto your device.

Most reputable applications have their own webpages you can go direct to to manually rather than following any dubious links..

Well.... City & Guilds seem to use it for their online exam invigilation .... I've just done my 18th ed (online) and had to use a Windows PC with Google Chrome and Flash enabled for the exam

From last year all the majority of websites changed there code to html5 and all flash plugins are almost extinct so no do not install Adobe flash player just update your browser and do not worry
