It was NZ Mr Evans and I still have a permit so might go back there! Australia is considered one of NZs islands, North Island, South Island and the big West Island........... The plug hole thing is a myth apparently its the first thing I checked when I got there.....

Having been to Oz twice, it was my recollection that the water does indeed go the "wrong way" down the plug hole.

I also mused, and posted some photos here of sockets in bathrooms and how it is normal to have the washing machine in the bathroom.  I mentioned to my Australian BIL that we are not allowed sockets in bathrooms.  "Why not" he asked.  I said because someone would be stupid enough to use the hairdryer while sitting in a bath of water.  His reply was "if they are that bloody stupid they deserve to die"

He was a typical laid back down to earth Australian, really nice bloke.

You don't need to travel to OZ for that. They have it in France and Germany, ( to my personal observation), in fact I think a socket is mandatory in French bathrooms.

I've always thought that clothes washing in the bathroom  is far more logical than doing it in the kitchen, unless you are fortunate enough to have a separate utility room.

Doing everything in the kitchen is a throwback to when there was a pump in the yard, a slopstone sink, a kettle on the range and a tin bath.

links not working for some reason, but a quick google will settle it.

Regarding sockets in bathrooms etc, I worked for a guy who did a lot of domestic. He was happy for someone in the bath to be able to reach up and be able to switch the lights on from the bath. Not a pull switch or SELV supply and not an RCD in sight either!

I don't think we have bathrooms anymore is it not a room containing a bath now,and we can have sockets in a room containing a bath

usually when people introduce themselves they'll say something more than saying where they are from. This is probably a bot.
Lots of people don't introduce themselves and just dive in regardless

then we are left guessing what their qualifications/experience/feild of expertise is.....could be anything from a Doctorate and specialising in Skin Theorey to a general spark...to an apprentice.  To a chancer

who knows

just saying
