Might not be the best forum but economy 7 knowledge seems thin on the ground these days.

Had an eicr certificate done on 2 flats between tennants and since then no hot water even after a boost - controllers all seem to be operational but no output.

Just noticed bottom tank of combo tank seems largely devoid of water whilst all taps seem to have a supply of water (albeit all cold).

Anyone know if the bottom tank is designed to run low?

Thanks in advance.

Joe.

What makes you believe there is no water in the tank?  Is it a pressurised tank or one with an open header?

If it's the sort of system I think you mean that seems unlikely, especially if you can draw water at the taps.

In the event that it was dry and the heater switched on, that would most likely destroy the heating element but would probably also trip a circuit breaker.

Have you checked if there are isolator switches adjacent to the tank which may perhaps have been left switched off after testing?
