Doing nothing won’t help, so I’ve signed it - but as long as certain white goods manufacturers are getting away with selling c a r p I suspect little will change

 
The laws are in place and apply just as much to amazon as anywhere else.

The problem is enforcement, or lack of it.  Have you actually tied complaining to trading standards when you have received a sub standard item from China after you chose to buy it because it was only £0.99 and the nearest "proper" UK item was £5?

 
There'll be millions of houses with this junk in them. There's a tidal wave of it coming over from the far east, they're building bigger and bigger ships to carry it over, the latest ones carrying 24,000 containers at a time, orders in the hundreds to build these ships, not only online there are pound shops full of fake fuses, dodgy phone chargers and underrated cables, most people want cheap, the only consideration is the price, the only concern with quality comes after the fire ... good luck.
