Hi, When I move our electric oven (nearly a year old) into a new tall oven housing, there will be an existing double 13A socket at the rear of the oven.

The gap will be between them will be 35mm, is it safe to leave it as it is, or should I remove the socket, connect the ring main in the backbox with 32a connectors, and provide a blanking plate, although this will be made of the same material as the double socket and the cooker outlet plate. I could provide a metal blanking plate but would this get hot?

Please can you advise?

Pete

Hi Sharpend,

The oven will be fed by a new 6mm T&E feed from the consumer unit via a Cooker switch, the existing double 13A socket will be just unable to use. I will check where the vents are at the rear of the oven.

Thanks

Pete

Hi Sharpend,

I have checked the double socket position and it will NOT be inline with the oven's vents.

Thanks

Pete

Hi again,

Great, waiting for County Kitchens to deliver the housing unit.

Thanks

Pete
