Smoke Alarm distance from wall/light fitting

Jono Pashley

Question

Tomorrow i have to go drop all the cables down through the new suspended ceiling on the job im at, but in the hall the drawings show the light fitting(2D bulkhead type thing) and smoke alarm(mains) quite close together and im sure i need minimum separation between the wall and the detector and also between the detector and the light. Can anyone shed some light on this as i dont have much room to play with in this hall

Cheers Jono.

Should be stated on the manufactures instructions for the smokes, but I think you will find Theoryspark is correct

300mm away from anything that could affect the airflow to the sensor..
