asked to quote for a new water heater cct

6 way old wylex ( 2 lights, cooker, house ring, garage ring )which has a spare way and customer wants it in trunking :D

looks at first a mornings work............

4mm bonding to water and gas

look in meter cupboard 10mm tails,, 4mm main earth no indication of size of main fuse.

osg says 10mm clipped good for more than 60 amps but it goes up a cavity (2m) with the dreaded white loose bead insulation

my head is telling me cu upgrade which will cost as the testing is going to throw up some trouble...

any thoughts ?

How bout Henley blocks in to new installed 25mm loops. then out to combined RCD/MCB in its own enclosure for the water heater and upgrade Earthing and bonding conductors....dont touch the existing Wylex if customer wont pay for any further upgrading

Note ; RCD protection may be optional if cable is in trunking and water heater is not in a Special Location !......unless its a TT installation of course !

That is what i was thinking as the only option

25mm tails to the henly block 10mm or 16mm to the mcb job done
