I've seen a re-wire, obviously a dodgy one, where they'd left the wooden back boxes in!

On the same rewire they were using the cpc as a live on the two way landing light... another quality job.

Don't worry, the artex manufacturers association have assured us that the content of asbestos is well below the legal maximum.

depends how much you scrape away i suppose

However it is considered best practice not to breath when scraping it off the walls etc.

breathing is kinda vital... you wont be scraping much if your not doing that!

If you are really careful you can break them out and get a 16mm metal box in to replace them without damaging to much decor.

I did a rewire a few years back and in the loft I found a half reel of cable (doncaster cables) and a box of unused wooden back boxes.

Amazing quality of workmanship went into them but totaly useless now :^O
