Zs is usually done at end of circuit not at dis board but maybe I am reading this wrong anyway welcome to the forum shocks all round.

Mains off, main bonds to services disconnected, earth croc clip on earth bar, live probe on incoming live, neutral probe on incoming neutral...... test.

Welcome to the forum.

I believe OP is looking for good answers that are freindly. ;)

Welcome to the forum S.A,R.

Zs is performed at points around a circuit as required

Ze is performed at the incoming Supply

If it is a sub board then Ze would be classed as Zdb.

Ze [orZDB]

Perform safe Isolation .which will result in Main Isolator in OFF position.

Disconnect Main Earth conductor from Main Earth Terminal

Connect Earth lead from your tester via its croc clip to the Disconnected Earth conductor.

Connect Neutral Probe from your tester to Neutral connection of Incoming side of Main Isolator

Connect Live Probe from your tester to Line Connection of incoming side of Main Isolator

Press test on tester and note the reading...remove test leads

IMPORTANT ! Immediately reconnect the Earth Conductor to the MET..then switch isolator back on ...if required

Hi yer R.U.S. Just one point on your method. If earth Conductor is left connected to Earth bar there is still a possibility of parrallel paths through cpc to Extraneous conductive parts etc........what do you think ?

You're right lol.... I stand corrected. Proper method would indeed be to remove the earthing conductor from the earth bar.... Applaud Smiley ... (having said that I have occasionally compared the readings and there was very little difference.)

Your welcome R.U.S ..and thanks for not taking offence , or taking it as criticism :)

Not at all a1 :) , despite being a spark for 18 years I would never claim to know it all or say I do everything right. I still make mistakes so I appreciate you mentioning it.

Can I just add for the benefit of absolute clarity for eveyone....

all of the above guidance would assume that the POLARITY at the incoming supply has be verified prior to doing the Zs / Ze /Zdb at the board.

Although unlikely to be wrong you should NEVER assume anything is correct,

but that said ....

Most modern test meters will give some sort of error indication if polarity is arse about face! :)

Just thought I would add that in case any new starters to the world of electwickey are reading! :D :x

OMG the last posts were that polite I thought I was living in the 1940s.Thanks awfully chaps, I,m not taking the wee-wee by the way, TTFN .
