anyone know where u can get a relay that switches 230v ac from 12v dc, want to use a output from alarm to switch the relay to switch the flood lights on to perm. so the sounder, strobe and floods willl come on when triggered

cheers

think best to hav to relay switch a contactor
possibly. although you can get some relays with larger terminals that a spade connector could fit onto. or you can get 'plug in' type, with 8 (or 11) pins which plug into a base with proper terminals (and fixing points)

awesome SL

is the data sheet wrong tho?

i.e 1 rating for resistive and there should be a lower rating for inductive

i always feel safer switching 12v over 240v at any distance by using a relay, it costs more but is safer in the long run (and sometimes cheaper)

Always best to put the relay in a adaptor box marked 240 away from the alarm panel not inside the alarm panel.

fuse the 12 volt feed from the alarm panel.

As stated by others availible at all good wholesalers.Maplins are expensive compared to Farnell or CPC.

Price you pay for the goods when you need them.

As does Maplin..................
Indeed..

Maplin do have quite a few stores around the country so you can often drop in to pick the odd one-off bits up without too much hassle!..

I got 2x Maplin stores within 15mins drive from home, (opposite directions!)

:)

whereas CPC/Farnell, RS got to be at least 1/2hour minimum travelling! :(
