I'm just curious.... :coat

Local job, consists of three parts:

1. Replace an existing faulty 2 gang dimmer

2. Install a new double socket on the same stud wall as an existing double (so basically up the stud wall, 8 feet along in the loft and drop down. socket to be sunk - drylined box. Only issue might be noggins!

3. Install new aerial socket next to new double socket - easy access in the loft to existing aerial cable that can be "tapped" into - dryline box sunk in - again only issue might be noggins!

New house (about 7 years old, all bonding, earth and RCD ok)

How long and how much (inc materials)? ?:|

Evenin'

I was thinking 3 - 4 hours...especially if I have to cut holes and make good to deal with the noggins! (where's my hole saw) :D

I reckoned on 140 quid inc materials.

Same as others i would be looking to say 140 / 150 based on going well.

Allow 10mins + cost of dimmer.

2. Install a new double socket on the same stud wall as an existing double (so basically up the stud wall, 8 feet along in the loft and drop down. socket to be sunk - drylined box. Only issue might be noggins!

Allow

1/2 hour for cut dry-line back box, terminate cables, identify circuit safe isolate etc..

1 hour up the wall

1 hour down the wall

15mins across loft & any clipping

so 2.75 hours + materials

3. Install new aerial socket next to new double socket - easy access in the loft to existing aerial cable that can be "tapped" into - dryline box sunk in - again only issue might be noggins!

Allow

1/2 hour fixing back box and terminating ends, joining to existing feed.

1 hour up wall

15mins for any clipping or any other tricky bits

so 1.75 hours + materials

I normally think these jobs though in a mental stage by stage approach..

highlight in blue above...

so total guesstimate time would be..

10mins + 2.75hours + 1.75 hours

then round up to the next full hour..

5 hours minimum (or 1/2 day) @ whatever your labour rate are +

materials +
