Right then heres one for you.

While at a school doing some work on em lighting, the caretaker asked a few question with regard to the new wood chalet type building electrical installation.

The sparks that has done the work has had to extend an existing swa submain (16mm 2core) from the supply (tn-s), he apparently then called his governing body to ask clarification on the use of the swa as the MEC & was told no he couldnt use it as it has been jointed underground..ok then can a rod be used & TT the outbuilding.

Again the answer was a no because they deemed the the building as a tempory movable structure ?:| ROTFWL

This thing is 20ft x 30ft & sat on raised pillar foundations.

As for the 3x em lights in the school not working, these were only fitted by a contractor during refurb work over the summer holiday break & they'd managed to wire the sw/line & unswitched line ass about face at the fittings Applaud Smiley

It is deemed as a "Temporary Structure". But you knew that and wouldn't need to ask - would you M? :)

Em Lights fitted during the summer and arse about face on the sw/line and un/sw/line. Hmm. I am saying no more.

Sounds like he's dealing with idiots TBH. Whats wrong with jointing cables ,undergroung/overground/ wandering free, the Wombles of Wimbledon Common are we. Sorry lost it for a minute.

Also a bloomin' great wooden building on brick piers, 20 ft X 30 ft is not a movable structure. Why do people always complicate things these days .

''look into my eyes, B-) you are tired, :z very tired :z sleep sleep when you awake you will think your a womble :^O REPEAT :^O , ''

The tempory part of their argumant is that such a building by planning is not deemed permanant. Such a farce though if you concider the tempory concrete shacks that went up after the second world war and are still in use.

Jointing cable I really do not see their argument here, they have to do it!

When was the last time a 200m 75mm swa cable was laid with no joints?
